Mind Mapping will evoke thoughts of visually representing complex ideas, conceptual and abstract artworks, diverse artistic perspectives, interactivity, psychological exploration, use of multimedia, and intellectual engagement with the depth of thoughts. All original 2D or 3D artwork that follow the guidelines below are eligible for Maryland Federation of Art’s (MFA) online show. Entry is open to all artists residing internationally. Works selected by the juror will be on display in MFA’s online gallery, Curve Gallery, from April 15 – May 31, 2024.
This exhibition defines a mind map as an artist’s interpretation of a snapshot of their mind. It can be a tool for thought visualization or psychological exploration. No two mind maps will be the same. Because everyone processes thoughts and emotions their own way, the resulting mind maps will be unique to everyone.
These mind maps should be approached conceptually and with a spirit of openness. Consider how you interpret emotions and memories and map your thought process through various artistic principles.
We encourage artists to revisit a moment in their life and to produce a visual framework of their thoughts, feelings, and emotions during and about that time. Artists are encouraged to push boundaries of their preferred media and to also incorporate aspects of an unfamiliar media into their piece. In the end, the piece should be reflective of you, your thoughts, and how you arrived at the place you are today.
Interested in participating but not really sure where to start? We held a virtual workshop on Jan 20 from 1 – 2 PM for anyone interested in learning more about this online exhibition. Click here to watch the Mind Mapping Workshop for ideas and inspiration about where to start.

Watch the video below for a tutorial on how to upload your entries.
What is a submission?
One submission or application on artcall.org is the equivalent of one entry on MFA’s old entry system, or one piece submitted for jurying. Artcall.org uses the terms submission and application interchangeably.
Can I edit my submissions after I've submitted them?
Artcall.org requires you to select the number of submissions / applications you want to enter and to pay before entering in your image and image details. You can edit your submission details along with images you've attached up until the submission period is over. Once the submission period has ended, you cannot edit their entries in any form.
Can I add more submissions after I've paid?
You must submit a separate submission / application for each piece of artwork you wish to be shown to the juror. You have the option to add a second or third image of the same work to your submission / application as a detail photograph. This is not required.
What are the entry fees?
1 or 2 entries are $45 ($30 for MFA Members). Up to 4 additional entries are $6.75 each ($4.50 for MFA Members). Entry fees are non-refundable.
